The Golden Buckle Hunt begins on May 5 in Williams Lake, inviting treasure hunters to explore local trails in search of a metal buckle with a golden-coloured bull.
Every Monday from May 5 to June 2, a buckle will be hidden on a local trail and a clue to its location will be posted on the city’s special events page or the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex’s (CMRC) social media channels.
Once found, send a selfie of yourself with the buckle to recreation@williamslake.ca no later than Sunday at 11:59 p.m. each week for a chance to win a grand prize draw. The final photo submission is due on June 8.
Make sure to place the buckle back where you found it so others can enjoy the hunt as well.
The grand prize hasn’t been finalized yet but will likely be similar to past years, which typically consists a combination of a backpack, hiking gear and trail guidebooks from local businesses, along with possible day passes to the CMRC.
