Agur Lake Camp's second annual Light Up The Camp event raised $6,700 for the barrier-free camp near Summerland.
The event on Aug. 4 was hosted by Lightning Rock Winery, with Summerland Smoke Shack’s pulled pork and brisket buffet. Dessert was from Giants Head Kitchen and included cupcake flavours. Jill and Kevin Fai from the band, Moving Lines, serenaded the evening.
Agur Lake Camp is a nonprofit society that operates a barrier-free campground that people of all ages with various disabilities can enjoy. The camp is 15 kilometres west of Summerland.
Proceeds of the Light Up The Camp event will be used to develop a fire mitigation system at the camp. This is a priority for the society as they work to protect the camp to allow families to visit and enjoy the facility for many years to come.
Other organizations involved with the fundraising effort included event sponsor Summerland Credit Union and Top Cat Tours.
Summerland Sweets, Melt Mineral Spa, Penticton Ramada, Summerland Credit Union, Jim Ongena and Summerland Golf and Country Club donated items for the live auction.
