Williams Laker’s pulled up their boots and strapped on their saddles and headed out onto the range to raise more than $40,500 in the Bowl for Kids Sake over the weekend.
The money, which stays local and goes towards children’s programming done by the Big Brothers Big Sisters, was donated April 6 and 7, all while a cast of characters donned their best Wild Wild West-themed outfits and headed to the Cariboo Bowling Lanes.
Melissa Newberry, executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters Williams Lake, tipped her hat to all who donated.
“It’s been awesome, lots of enthusiasm, the costumes are great and we’ve been well supported,” said Newberry.
“People love to bowl, and we love to hear about the donors and we appreciate all the generous donations Williams Lake has to offer.”
A number of top fundraisers are acknowledged by the organization:
The highest fundraiser was Sydney Freeman, from Inland, who raised $1,560 for the organization, and in return won two Pacific Coastal return tickets to Vancouver.
Karmen Smith of Hub International came a close second, raising $1,125 for the organization, and earning a stay for two at the Retreat Wilderness Inn.
Third saw Wayne Erlandson from Premium Trucks and Trailers raise $940 and win a pressure washer donated by Inland.
Eight individuals, who each raised over $400 were also awarded prizes: Sandy Rankin (Surplus Herbys); Kristie Blackall (Finning Tractor); Tamara Dike and Debbie Aschwanden (Johnston Meier); Samantha Glaves (Court Registry); Mel Roy (Investors Group); Sheila Finnie (CDC); and Savannah Dickey (Vanderburgh and Company).
Additionally, Linda Rouley of Community Living won a beautiful western painting, donated by Pat Taylor as a door prize, and the Challenge Winner of $500 in advertising was awarded to Vanderburgh and Company.
