The city of Williams Lake has passed a resolution to bath the city hall in blue in recognition of Scleroderma Month in June.

City council voted in favour of the resolution at their regular meeting on May 24 and so the lights of city hall will be changed to blue for one week of June.

The aim of the resolution and bathing the building in blue is to raise awareness about the mysterious autoimmune disease. The disease affects women four to five times as frequently as men and can disfigure and disable those who suffer from it, sometimes even causing death.

There is no known cure for the disease. The month of June was also declared Scleroderma Awareness Month in Williams Lake.
