It’s a time of revival at Churchmouse books in Oak Bay, with the return of after hours fun.
Churchmouse Books opened at St. Mary’s Church in 2015, adding Churchmouse After Hours two years later.
Those afternoons of entertainment wound down due to COVID and with lives shifting, took a back seat for the organization – until now. The event returns with a new day and time, Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. and with new hosts, who are old friends: locally based poets Cynthia Woodman Kerkham and Yvonne Blomer.
The monthly neighbourhood coffeehouse with songs, stories, poems and prose on a rotating theme returns Feb. 15 with the theme Begin Again at Churchmouse Bookshop in St Mary’s, Oak Bay, 1701 Elgin Rd.
Open every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the book shop is run by volunteers and books are available in exchange for a donation.
The shop benefits local charities such as the food bank at St. John the Divine, Our Place Society and Threshold Housing Society which supports at-risk youth in Greater Victoria.
