Sherry and John Bullock are recipients of a lifetime membership with the Williams Lake Stampede.

John and Sherry Bullock began volunteering at the Williams Lake Stampede in 2000. They had moved to the lakecity in 1992, but were heavily involved with minor hockey because of their sons.

At first it was friends who invited them to be volunteers with the Stampede. They helped with the merchandise booth, taking tickets, cutting roasts from the roast pit for beef-on-a-bun sales.

Sherry’s family moved from Winnipeg to Whitehorse, Yukon when she was 10. After high school she moved to Inuvik where there were lots of work opportunities.

There she met John who was born and raised in Inuvik, living on the land all summer fishing with his family.

Work moved them to Williams Lake.

Today they work at Tolko - she as an accountant for the woodlands division and he as a heavy duty mechanic.

In the past few years they have not volunteered at the Stampede because they have grandchildren in Alberta to visit.

This year, however, the grandchildren are coming to attend the Stampede with them.

Other lifetime membership recipients for the 96th Annual Williams Lake Stampede include Cecilia DeRose, Tim and Susan Rolph, Jack Palmantier and Mickey Crosina.
