This photo was taken Thursday, Aug. 2 1928, on the Hope-Princeton trail, by Rev. J.C.Goodfellow. He and two friends, Dr. Kearney and Allan MacDonald, were hiking the trail from Princeton to Hope and stopped to visit with Bill Robinson at "Camp Defiance" near Sumallo Grove, pictured here. Robinson was a miner, lived in this area for several decades and was well known for his hospitality to travellers on the "Hope Trail".
