Hello one and all.

My name is Andie Mollins and it’s with the greatest pleasure that I introduce myself as the newest addition to the Efteen. I’ll be writing to you from the bustling Maritime city of Halifax, N.S. before making my way across the country to Williams Lake.

I’ve been writing little stories and poems for as long as I can remember, though I never imagined writing professionally was an option.

I grew up in a small, lobster-obsessed beach town in New Brunswick, where family and community always took front seats in my life. The hours I spent looking for frogs and playing capture the flag were paralleled with those spent playing for local sports teams or serving at community suppers.

When it came time to seriously consider what I wanted to do after completing school, I kept two essential elements in mind: interact and create. My love for the people and communities around me inspired my eventual pursuit of a career in journalism. I’ve always sought to be involved and help where I can, and for me, writing is the greatest way to do so.

Once I realized being an adult doesn’t need to exclude the side of me longing to create, it was only a matter of time before I trusted my ability to become a reporter. I escaped the rural New Brunswick life to study history and sociology in Fredericton, where I found self-doubt to be my greatest barrier. Overcoming one challenge after another, I learned to embrace my ability to learn from mistakes, and most importantly, to keep trying.

I recently graduated from the University of King’s College with a degree I only recently believed I could attain. Realistically, a career in journalism was never in my line of sight because I didn’t have the role models to show me it was possible. I’ve learned to find this in myself, and I am so excited it has brought me to your community.

I look forward to learning all about Williams Lake and helping the community stay informed and connected. See you soon, and happy reading.
