Weddings and proms will be the focus of a fundraising event coming up next month in Williams Lake.
“We normally travel north to Prince George or South to Kamloops to attend bridal fairs and we thought why don’t we put on a bridal and grad extravaganza in our home town,” said Brides & Belles owner Kimberly Futcher who is hosting the extravaganza at the Elks Hall on Sunday, Feb. 19.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to the Cariboo Foundation Hospital Trust towards the purchase of medical equipment.
“We have 500 tickets available and are hoping to sell at least 300 Kimberly said.
There are plenty of door prizes, including the grand prize of two return tickets from Williams Lake to Vancouver, donated by Pacific Coastal Airlines, plus a $200 visa gift card donated by Brides & Belles.
You have to attend in order to enter the draws.
Spaces for vendors are fully booked and many have donated prizes such as gift certificates, a set of acrylic nails, a mini photo session and hotel rooms to name a few.
The event goes from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. with a fashion show at 2 p.m. BFF Fashions and Brides & Belles will be showcasing the latest fashions for proms, weddings and other occasions.
For 2017 big floral prints or two piece gowns with high necks are popular for prom, Kimberly said as she pulled out a few dresses from the rack, showing their full skirts and pockets.
“I also have girls that come in and prefer a less extravagant gown, Alfred Angelo Collection has a fantastic selection of beautiful elegant gowns.”
“We have several hundred bridal gowns to choose from, in addition Brides & Belles is the exclusive retailer for Alfred Angelo and Mia Solano between Prince George and Kamloops.”
Brides & Belles also carries a large selection of jewelry and accessories from Bridal Classics and Mitchell Bridal. Their beautiful hair pieces, combs, necklaces, earring sets, broaches, bracelets and tiaras fill display cases at the front counter. Brides & Belles is now offering suit rentals by Derks.
On the day of the extravaganza, Brides & Belles will be having a blowout sale at the store, featuring prom and bridal gowns.
“I am hoping other stores on the block will open up that day as well,” Kimberly added.
Tickets for the event are $15 each and available at Brides & Belles, Realm of Toys and A&B Photo in 100 Mile House.
